WRITING MEMOIRS AND PERSONAL STORIES
Discover how to find, sort through, and craft your memories and turn them into a memoir or a “tellable” story. Each class in this series stnads alone and includes two hours of leture, writing exercises, and small group discussions.
Following each 2-hour workshop, participants can take get written feedback on their writing via email with Award-Winning Author and Storyteller Kevin Strauss (www.naturestory.com). On the day of the last session, volunteers can read their work as part of the “Writer’s Read Concert”.
All Workshops Take Place 6:00 – 8:30pm at the La Crescent Public Library
October 4 — Introduction to Memoir Writing
October 11 — Writing About Real People
October 18 — Writing About Real Places (homes, farms, and more!)
November 1 —Writing A Crisis, Conflict, or Change
November 8 — Including a “Turning Point” in Your Story
November 15 — Revising and Editing Your Story
November 15 – “Writers Read” Volunteer Story Concert
(8:00 – 8:30) Come hear some of the stories that your neighbors and friends have written.
