Face masks are required for all in-building services at the La Crescent Public Library.
As many people are aware, today Gov. Walz will end the statewide mask mandate requiring masks in public indoor spaces. While we at the library are thrilled to see cases decline and vaccination rates increase, for the time being masks will still be required for all in-building services at the La Crescent Public Library.
We have heard over and over again from parents how glad they are to bring their children back to the library, many of whom are still too young to be vaccinated (11 and under) and some of whom are too young even to wear a mask for their own safety (2 and under). In order to protect our youngest patrons, we will continue to require all adults and children over 5 years of age to wear masks in the building.
We understand that this may be seen as an inconvenience to our vaccinated adult patrons, but it is the best way to ensure the safety of the children in our community and keep our library open for all. Any patrons who are unable to wear a mask are asked to utilize our no-contact item pickup service on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Thank you for helping keep our patrons safe!
